Teams let you group members by function (e.g. Platform, Payments, Frontend) and assign them as owners of specific services and incidents. Go to Teams in the sidebar.
Creating and managing teams requires the Admin or Owner role. Members and Viewers can view teams but cannot create or edit them. See Users & Permissions for details.

Creating a team

  1. Click Create Team.
  2. Fill in:
    • Name — the team name (e.g. Platform Engineering)
    • Description — optional short description
    • Email — optional team email for notifications
  3. Click Save.

Adding members to a team

  1. Open the team by clicking its name.
  2. Click Add member.
  3. Search for the org member by name or email.
  4. Click Add.
Members can belong to multiple teams.

Team roles

Each team member has a team-level role: Team roles are informational — they do not change the member’s organization-level permissions.

Assigning services to a team

In the Services detail page, set the Team field to associate a service with a team. This links:
  • Ownership visibility in the service catalog
  • Alert routing — alerts for this service notify the owning team
  • Incident assignment — incidents affecting this service are assigned to the team
  • On-call escalation — pages are routed to the team’s on-call schedule

On-call configuration

Teams can be connected to on-call providers for automatic paging during incidents:
  • PagerDuty — Link a PagerDuty schedule and service ID
  • Opsgenie — Link an Opsgenie team and schedule ID
On-call integration requires PagerDuty or Opsgenie to be connected in Integrations. Contact support@obsy.ai if you need help with the setup.
When configured, incidents trigger pages through the connected on-call system.

Team notifications

Each team can override global notification settings:
  1. Open the team.
  2. Go to the Notifications tab.
  3. Toggle Override global settings to customize per-team behavior:
    • Email notifications — enable/disable, critical-only option
    • Slack notifications — enable/disable, mention on critical
    • On-call paging — enable/disable
If not overridden, the team inherits the organization’s global notification settings.

Slack channel

Set a team Slack channel to receive team-specific notifications. When an incident affects a service owned by this team, Obsy posts to the team’s channel in addition to the general incidents channel.

Removing a team

  1. Open the team.
  2. Click Delete team.
  3. Confirm the deletion.
Members are not removed from the organization — they remain as org members. Services that referenced this team lose their team assignment.
